The Red Leather Diary, by Lilly Koppel. A work of nonfiction featuring a found diary that paints a picture of life in New York City in the 1930s.

A Fraction of the Whole, by Steve Toltz. A novel about the complicated relationship between a young man and his father.

Shakespeare's Wife, by Germaine Greer. A book about not only Anne Hathaway, but the lives of women in the 16th and early 17th centuries in general.

The House at Riverton, by Kate Morton. A novel about a young woman who goes to be a maid at a wealthy country house and becomes privy to the goings-on there.
